I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts-Boston, majoring in English (American and English literature) and minoring in psychology, and my master’s degree in English (Composition, Rhetoric, and English Studies) from the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa. Under Dr. Savitri's guidance, I was able to meld my preexisting research interests (composition and rhetoric) with the newfound one (critical discourse studies), making the whole PhD journey even more fulfilling. Also, I was impressed by the great lengths to which other faculty members and the staff members were willing to go to provide assistance the students.

Personal Background
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English at Kasetsart University, I applied for the MA study in English for Professional Development at the National Institute of Development Administration. After I graduated, I continued studying at NIDA, applying for the PhD Program in Language and Communication. Initially, I aimed to become an English teacher. However, I soon discovered that the English language could be studied, researched, and used for something far more personal to my interests. The coursework has taught me that language embodies human culture: It plays parts in constructing personality, relationships, morality, history, and even certain aspects of reality. Additional lectures in popular cultures have made me realize my passion for analyzing, understanding, and teaching the importance of English in fictional media on how a person develops social behaviors and morality. For example, in my dissertation, I analyzed the antagonistic yet supportive friendship between two fictional superheroes Superman and Batman, who traditionally have opposite traits, attitudes, ethics, and worldviews. Not only is this kind of relationship possible in the superhero world, but the writers also insisted that these two characters must be best friends. Communication and relationship shared between the two characters; therefore, became the tool that reflects underlying desires for comic book writers and superhero fans to develop optimistic views on human relationships and socialization despite the overwhelming skepticism and cynicism in the 21st century. Correspondingly, my research interests include English as a communicative language, communication theories, cultural studies, literary criticism, and other analyses involve how popular culture and fiction have been used to affect or reinforce personhood, relationship, and morality.

Personal Background
As I completed my bachelor’s degree in English major and I am very interested in translation, I decided to get a master’s degree in translation studies. After I graduated, I have been working as an English teacher and a translator. After a few years of full-time work, I considered that I need to further my study in the field that would be useful for my career. So, I chose the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Language and Communication (International Program) of Graduate School of Language and Communication, National Institute of Development Administration. I believed that the program would benefit me a lot. As I work with English language and translation, I was sure that I would gain more knowledge and understanding in language and communication that can be applied to my work. However, after I got an opportunity to study here, I thought what I learned in the classes was a little different from I had expected. I found it was a little difficult at first. After a while, I could adapt with the teaching here and I learned a lot from the instructors, especially Assistant Professor Dr. Savitri Gadavanij, who became my advisor later. I have learned a lot of things from her classes. The two subjects that I was very interested in her class were semiotics and critical discourse analysis (CDA). They led me to do my dissertation (The 2013-14 Thai Political Crisis as Reflected in Thai Political). I quite enjoyed doing the dissertation. Although I took years to finish it, my advisor was really nice and always gave me insightful advice. I have never regretted studying here. It was such a great experience since the first day until the day of my graduation. I have to thank my advisor and everyone in the program. At present, I am a full-time instructor of the Department of Western Languages, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi. I have used the knowledge I obtained from the program to teach in many English classes here, especially Discourse for Communication in the Workplace, which is a course of master’s degree.
